THE FARM
A big part of what we do here at La Confluencia is centered around the farm. Since our inception, we have utilized the biointensive method developed by John Jeavons to grow food for our own consumption, as well as for neighbors and guests at the lodge. You are encouraged to explore our gardens during your visit and enjoy the fresh, seasonal produce that they yield. Those who would like to learn more about the biointensive method and other self-sufficient living practices can request a guided tour, or join one of our upcoming workshops.
THE BIOINTENSIVE METHOD
Biointensive farming is an innovative agricultural method that aims to maximize food production while minimizing resource consumption and environmental impact. It involves intensive cultivation on small plots of land, utilizing techniques designed to enhance soil fertility and increase water efficiency. This approach promotes biodiversity and natural pest control, eliminating the need for synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Biointensive farming aims to create sustainable and resilient farming systems that prioritize soil health, ecological balance, and long-term food security.
